Nigerian singer and song writer Simisola Kosoko, better known by her stage name Simi, denotes that the presence of the Nigerian police on the streets causes her anxiety.
I used to be so hopeful for Nigeria, but now, just driving on the streets gives me anxiety. Seeing police officers with guns gives me anxiety. Someone suddenly walking up to me gives me anxiety. Hate it here.

The statement which the Nigerian musical artiste made was in relation to Nigeria’s fight against police brutality.
However, things have gone better after the #EndSARSE protect which ended bloody and deadly last year.
According to Simi, the presence of the Nigerian police on the streets with guys, make her feel uncomfortable although she has not committed any offence.
Consequently, with respect for authorities and and the appropriate channel of communication, we humbly request that the rate at which security personnel troop in our communities and streets with deadly weapons should be minimized, she added.
“Although I drive on the streets in car, I still bump into anxiety whenever I see armed officers. Naturally, most of the population fear that scene where officers police move around with weapons such as guns”.
We love the police and we will continue to cooperate with them because they hold higher part of our security. However, we request that, moving around with sophisticated weapons by the police should be minimized, Simi concluded.
